The event
Malaysia Forum Conference 2005 will be held on May 21 & 22, 2005 at Stanford University. The theme will be "Citizens as Agents of Change". An agent of change is an entity which applies its resources to improve the state of an issue that matters to society. Read our agenda .

Our primary objectives for this event are:

To begin the transformation of each attendee into an agent of change.
To help each attendee discover what he/she can do with his/her empowerment.
To put the collective potency of dozens of awakened Malaysians into earnest use.

The event will feature:

Panel discussion by experts who study Malaysia.
Web conference with civil society practitioners directly from Malaysia.

Why attend?
Many times, we suffer from the mindset that as "ordinary citizens" we are powerless to affect issues that concern us, and have to accept the status quo without hope for improvement. The objective of this conference is to reinforce the fact that the power for positive change is within every one of us. Our goal is to provide every attendee with the tools, and contacts, to affect positive and significant change in Malaysian society.

If you have ever been interested and concerned with issues regarding to Malaysia, and have a desire to affect positive impact in Malaysian society, then this conference is for you! People who are interested in the welfare of Malaysia will be able to meet like minded people, and hear from individuals, "ordinary citizens" like you and I, who have managed to achieve a tangible result working in Malaysian society.

Who we are
We are a non-partisan, non-profit group of socially conscious Malaysians living across the United States. We seek to promote the understanding of affairs affecting Malaysian society, and the involvement of individuals and groups in positive action pertaining thereto. Our history
The group's roots lie in a chance meeting of four at a talk organized by Stanford University's South East Asia Forum in 2002. Joined shortly after by other like-minded individuals, regular gatherings were held at which various Malaysia-related topics were discussed informally. In February 2004, the group convened 100 people at its first public event. It explored the theme The Post-Mahathir Malaysia: The Dawn of a New Era via a panel discussion and workshop-style sessions. Since then, a number of informal meet-ups and dialogue sessions with interesting public figures have been held.
