We have worked hard to get donations and sponsorship from various individuals and non-partisan organizations. Some of the funds we have collected will go towards subsidizing a the travel expenditures of a small number of out-of-state students ( students not from the Bay Area of California ) to attend this forum.

The subsidy amount will be up to $100 per student attending this forum. Note that this sponsorship does not cover the registration fee of $15 per student. While we will try to help as many students as possible defray the costs of travel, funds are very limited and subsidy decisions are at the discretion of the organizing committee and are final. In order for us to help as many students as possible with as large an amount as possible, please do not apply if you are financially secure and the cost of travel is not significant for you. While we not will ask you to provide proof of your financial need, applications will be made on an honor system basis. We trust that if you apply for sponsorship that cost is an issue.

To apply for this subsidy, you must show us proof that you are a resident student of a school / university in the United States . Please send the application email from your school email address. All applications must be submitted by May 14, 2005 . Late entries will not be considered. If you submit your application before May 14, you will be notified on the next Monday, i.e. May 16, 2005 about the result.

To apply for this subsidy, please follow the instructions below:

  1. Sign up for the event.
  2. Write "Student Sponsorship Application" as the title of the application e-mail.
  3. Write your
    • Full Name
    • University / School that you're currently attending
    • Contact preference
at the very top of the e-mail that you just wrote.
  4. Send that e-mail to mf2-register@malaysiaforum.org by May 14, 2005 .

In order to receive the sponsorship amount, upon registration students MUST submit:

  1. photocopies of their boarding pass and ticket arriving no earlier than 1 day before the conference and leaving no later than 1 day after the conference .
  2. receipts of ticket purchase.

This is to ensure that students do not abuse the sponsorship process for travel purposes.

Please also note that if you are attending this conference from out-of-state, you will have minimal accomodation and food costs as the organizing committee will find housing for you with Stanford students or working adults in the area, should you require it. Thus your main expense is just the cost of travel. All the best! We thank you in advance for making this effort to come.
