The Stanford campus is about 45 minutes south of San Francisco by car. If you will be flying in, the following airports serve the area:
- San Francisco Airport (SFO) 40 minutes drive to Stanford
- San Jose Airport (SJC) 25 minutes drive to Stanford
- Oakland Airport (OAK) 55 minutes drive to Stanford
Transportation from airports to Stanford:
A large number of motels and hotels are available in the areas surrounding Stanford. If you are joining us from beyond the SF Bay Area and need help with accommodation, please contact us. We will try to match people up with local residents, with priority given to students.

- San Francisco Walking tour:
Take a Caltrain from Stanford station to 4th Street station. Take the #30 Muni trolley bus -- you will pass through downtown and Chinatown, ending up at Fisherman's Wharf. Get off the bus at Fisherman's Wharf, enjoy the clam clowder, then you can catch a cable car back to Union Square. Union Square features shopping, people-watching and more. When you're ready, catch a #30 bus back to the Caltrain station, from which you can head back to Stanford.
